Nestled in the artistic town of Holualoa is the Malama I ka Ola, Holistic Health Center. It was once the office building of Dr. Saburo Hayashi. Dr. Hayashi came from a well educated Japanese family to the Big Island and opened up his practice in 1895. He took care of the poor immigrants who lived in the area. He treated every patient the same rich or poor and never pursued the accumulation of wealth through his practice. Dr. Hayashi lived by one Confucian principle, “Medicine is a benevolent art.”
Now over 100 years later this original building is the center for massage therapy, acupuncture, yoga and much more. It is located in the center of town next to the famous pink Kona Hotel and has ample parking in the back of the building. Surrounded by lush foliage, perfect cool temperature and the occasion sprinkle of rain on tin roofs makes this an ideal place for healing.
